When you decide to build with timber frame you make a positive step towards tackling climate change. Wood is essentially a carbon-neutral material (even making allowances for transportation). Building with timber also means that your property will be more thermally efficient, therefore actually saving you money.
Timber frame has the lowest co2 cost of any other building material, for example; for every cubic metre of timber used in the place of other building materials, 0.8tonnes of co2 is saved from entering the atmosphere.
All of our timber comes from a company who are members of the WWF95+ and Forest Forever, they are committed to providing products from well managed sustainable sources. We believe that sustaining forest reserves is imperative to our industry and also for global environmental stability. We do not purchase from any company who does not have an excellent environmental policy.
JSP Timber Engineering Ltd also goes further than most other timber related companies as we recycle all our off-cuts and wood waste in an environmentally friendly way.
JSP is also a partner of the Tree Appeal, supported by the well known English botanist, David Bellamy. The Tree Appeal helps responsible organisations reduce their environmental footprint by planting native British broad-leaved trees. For each unit JSP manufactures two trees are planted by conservation volunteers in the UK in many different settings, such as nature reserves, hedgerows, dedicated woodland, parks, schools and colleges.
In addition to all our other ‘green credentials’ we also ensure that our off-site manufacturing operations limit further environmental impact by eliminating waste material and reducing unnecessary road journeys.
We are committed to neutralising our carbon footprint, and urge others to do the same.
